(Between 2nd of June 2006 and the 1st August 2013)

On the 2nd of June of 2006, I conceived an Idea, The Bible of Life; which later on developed into something greater. In the end of the same summer I sent a message to the four corners of the world and asked four friends to show me their friendship by sending me a piece of leather of a specific color. I asked for a green from the north, for a blue from the west, for a red from the south and for a yellow from the east. Two of them sent their gifts by post and the leather from the north was a  green, while from the west was  a blue black leather from the West. The other two delivered the gifts in person. The southern brought himself a real red leather made from goat, and then he jumped out of my life mysteriously; I never saw or heard of him again, while the one from the east sent it by post and came himself the next day all the way from the east to see me; today he occupies one of the rooms of the City. Two years later, I took the leather in an old style binders shop in the center of Athens and asked the man to create a book with 192 leaves and carve on it my tattoo under a new title. And on the 6th of June of 2008, The Diary of an Angel was born.

The Diary of an Angel, one day before it began its journey

The Diary of an Angel BANNER indie

The Diary of an Angel is a unique Art Journal, also a visual record and contains poetry, photographs, sheets of music and sketches, and sometimes includes mixed media elements such as DVD, CD or flash drives. Like most of known Diaries is undertaken for an institutional purpose and it was intended to circulate among various artists, mostly poets and friends and to carry the message of unconditional love and friendship. The pages of the Diary were limited to 364, giving the opportunity to 91 artists around the globe, to place their art inside, and each to use four from its pages. The artists involved, express in these pages, themselves, and through it, as one entity, a messenger (an Angel), using various forms of art. Thus the name, The Diary of an Angel, this diary gives artists the possibility to record their works published or not, and include their statement, in artistic form, and also works as their biographical tool, a way to record their memories and dreams.

The concept was based on the accepted term of what a Diary is, though the entries are not expected to remain discreet because the message that carries is universal and the Diary will be published once it has finished its particular Journey with the collective action of all persons related directly to it. All of its entries are shared by different artists around the globe and this was achieved by sending the Diary out by post from City to City. This particular diary is not only an artist’s journal, it is also an event, a project of Art and is recorded and announced by the Artists involved, through others forms or media such as electronic formats (e.g., blogs) in the current social networks. The complete list of the artists involved can be found under the previous menu of  The City of Gold.

And it begins, the journey of the Diary

Vellum wrapped in leather, kissed by a ring;

A blank canvas awaiting the magic of poetry,

All wrapped up in friendship's noble wing.

The Journey begins

May the journey be one of enlightenment?

And may every angel be equally blessed,

Until into the Copper child's hands it returns

Again to its home in the Angel's Nest."
